2013 Girls D-I Quarterfinal Preview

2013-Skyline-Olympus-Girls-Lacrosse-21After an action packed day of lacrosse yesterday in the Girls D-II Quarterfinals, the D-I girls will take to the field in hopes to advance to the Semifinals. Here’s a look at the four games today.
Jordan @ Skyline
Skyline has been dominant all year. On the backs of Annie Glenn and Anna Ferreira, Skyline has beaten Park City and clinched an undefeated region title. Skyline scores an average of 12 goals per game. Jordan allows an average of 9 goals per game. I look for the Skyline offense to have a big day against a struggling Jordan defense.
Skyline wins 12-6
2013-Skyline-Olympus-Girls-Lacrosse-15Riverton v. Olympus @ Skyline
These two teams are very evenly matched. Olympus has a strong team that scores an average of 9 goals a game. Riverton has one of the best goalies in the state in Mikala Anderson who has a save percentage of 51%. They have a defense who only allows an average of 6 goals per game. The Titans and Silverwolves match-up in late March with Olympus taking a 10-8 win. I believe Riverton will get a win this time around in a close one.
Riverton wins 9-8
2013-Bingham-Jordan-Girls-Lacrosse-6Brighton @ Bingham
Bingham comes into this game as one of the most well rounded teams in the state. On average, they allow a mere 3.8 goals a game. They also score 9.5 goals a game, on average. They have are lead by attackers Kira Heiden and Rachael Munk who average 3.2 and 2.5 goals a game respectively. Brighton allows 10.9 goals a game but is young on offense.
Bingham wins 15-5
Park City Girls LacrossePark City v. Alta @ Bingham
This is another very interesting first round matchup. Park City has won the first two meetings but Alta is getting closer. Park City allows only 5.5 goals a game and scores 13 goals a game. On the shoulders of Madeline Haynes, Park City comes away with a close victory.
Park City wins 12-10

  1. I would personally pick Olympus over Riverton in this matchup. I think that Olympus has more offensive ability and has fixed their transition game quite well whereas Riverton has proven to struggle offensively and rely too heavily on Sharkbait defensively.
