2013 Girls D-II Quarterfinal Preview

Viewmont Girls LacrosseThe Quarterfinals of the Girls D-II playoffs begin today with the Top 8 teams going head-to-head to prove who is the best D-II team in the state. Here is a look at the match-ups.
Lehi Pioneers @ Viewmont Vikings
Viewmont comes into this game with a solid defense that only allows 4 goals a game, on average. They are also scoring 11.8 goals a game, on average. They are lead by Brittany Harris who is scoring 2.8 goals a game. Lehi is led by Megan Freeman who is scoring an average of 4.6 goals per game. They are allowing 8.6 goals a game and are scoring 9.8 goals a game. This game provides problems for the Pioneers as they lack a balanced attack and have to compete with a defense who is very stingy.
Prediction: Viewmont wins 12-3
Waterford Ravens v. Woods Cross Wildcats (@ Viewmont)

Woods Cross has two prolific midfielders in Daisey Mele and Hailey Tebbs. They are very sound defensively, only allowing 6.4 goals a game. Waterford is allowing 9.6 goals a game. I believe Waterford is missing something to keep the Woods Cross midfielders at bay. I look for Woods Cross to end this game quickly.
Prediction: Woods Cross wins 12-4
Weber Warriors @ American Fork Cavemen
American Fork has a very balanced attack with Haley Cook scoring 4.7 goals a game, followed by Emily Esplin and Morgan Greening scoring 2.2 and 2 goals a game respectively. Weber’s defense has struggled, allowing 9.3 goals a game. This game shouldn’t be close.
Prediction: American Fork wins 13-5
Hailey Kenney - Herriman Mustangs Girls Lacrosse
Sky View Bobcats v. Herriman Mustangs (@ American Fork)

Herriman is scoring an average of 10.8 goals a game. Hailey Kenney is having a breakout year for the Mustangs, scoring 3.2 goals a game. Sky View is allowing 6.1 goals a game. This game is an interesting matchup. Herriman has the offensive advantage in this game but Sky View has gotten better as the year goes on. The biggest point of focus for Sky View is going to be their defense. Can Sky View slow down the Mustangs?
Prediction: Herriman win 13-10
