2013 ULN Staff Game Picks: Week 9

Each week of the high school season we will pick the winners a handful of random games that week. You can join along as well by leaving a comment with your picks. We left the best for last. This week features a great mid-table showdown between Park City and Judge. The No. 1 Park City girls taking on the No. 4 Skyline girls for the No. 1 seed in the North. No. 1 Herriman taking on No. 2 Skyline in the Skyline Stadium and No. 1 Juan Diego taking on No. 3 Brighton for the No. 1 seed in the Salt Lake/Sandy Conference. Pierce Walker continues to lead with a 25-8 record with Scott Robinson taking a 24-9 record. Tim Haslam is sitting in perfect position for a comeback run in the playoffs at 20-13.
Boys: Park City @ Judge – Wednesday, 5/1
Pierce Walker: Judge wins 11-8
I like Judge in this match-up. They need to get tuned up before playoffs and start picking up some momentum. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of the Bulldogs yet this season.
Scott Robinson: Judge wins 12-11
Judge and Park City are very evenly matched. This should be a fun game that comes right down to the wire. I believe Judge will pull this win out.
Tim Haslam: Judge wins 10-8
Both teams are 7-5 and coming off 3 straight losses. Whoever wins this games gets the No. 4 seed heading into the playoffs which means home field advantage for the first game. I think I’m going with Judge in this one simply because their guys have a little more experience and their on the home field.
Girls: Park City @ Skyline – Thursday, 5/2
Pierce Walker: Park City wins 10-6
This game should be a great game for the North, it will determine who is No. 1 and who is No. 2 going into playoffs.
Scott Robinson: Park City wins 12-10
Amy Hafets has once again orchestrated an incredible season at Park City. Skyline has been solid all year with Annie Glenn at the helm. As much as I love to see an upset, I’m picking the Miners by two.

Tim Haslam: Skyline wins 9-8
I’m going to pick the upset here with the Eagles finally get past the Miners.

Boys: Herriman @ Skyline – Thursday, 5/2
Pierce Walker: Herriman wins 14-8
Herriman is leading D-II league in about every category. Expect another win.
Scott Robinson: Herriman wins 14-12
This game will keep you on the edge of your seat. I expect no boring moment all game. I believe this will be be game decided by a goal or two. I’m picking Chantz Roberts and the Mustang offense in this one.
Tim Haslam: Skyline wins 8-7
I see this one being very close in a great contest. I think the game will come down to the fourth quarter where Skyline will get the edge and win. The Eagles will use the energy from playing in their stadium to send the Mustangs back to Herriman with their only D-II loss.
Boys: Brighton @ Juan Diego – Friday, 5/3
Pierce Walker: Brighton wins 12-9
I believe Brighton is the best team in the state. No question in my mind. Time for the defending State Champs to get their first loss in Utah this season…
Scott Robinson: JD wins 15-10
Game of the week if not game of the year. Brighton has been a surprise but has been solid all year. Juan Diego has hardly been tested by the best teams in the State. I look for the Graney brothers to help lift Juan Diego over Brighton.

Tim Haslam: JD wins 12-11
By far the game of the year. This will be an epic showdown with Juan Diego getting the one goal win. An overtime period or two wouldn’t surprise me here. The last time the Soaring Eagle lost on their home field was a 2011 2OT loss to Judge. They know how to win at home in big games.
Let’s hear it fans. What are your predictions for the week?
