Although many teams don’t have games this week, there are a few gems. We’ve broken down some of the best match-ups this week. We predict the scores for the Riverton @ Juan Diego (girls), Sky View @ Syracuse (boys), Palo Verde (NV) @ Juan Diego (boys) and Waterford @ Bingham (boys) games. A little bit of something for everyone. Bradford Davis and Paul Walker are tied at 13-4 with Tim Haslam coming in at 11-6. Friend of the site, Jeff Brzoska, who has been playing along via the comments, stands at 12-5 as well. Don’t forget to leave your predictions in the comments below.
Girls: Riverton @ Juan Diego (4/8)
Bradford Davis – Riverton wins 8-7
With a handful of All-State players between the two teams, this should be a fun game to watch. With Riverton’s rock solid defense that specialize in preventing shots, I’ve got to mark this one up to Riverton.
Paul Walker – JD wins 9-7
Both teams are playing well. Riverton has held their opponent to an average of less than 4 points. On the other hand, Juan Diego really knows how to score, averaging over 13 goals a game. It will be a good fight, but Juan Diego has the fire power to defeat Riverton.
Tim Haslam – Riverton wins 10-7
The Silverwolves will be hungry for a win after losing to Alta last week.
Boys: Sky View @ Syracuse (4/10)
Bradford Davis – Sky View wins 10-8
Both teams stacked with talent. This is the boys game that I am most looking forward to. I think the offensive power of Sky View will give them the points. LSM Liam Ormond will be key in keeping the lead and in the transition game. If Syracuse’s Jordan Stark and Connor Meyer come to play, this should be a close one.
Paul Walker – Sky View wins 10-9
This will be a battle of two excellent teams. Sky View is undefeated thus far. Syracuse has the talent to play hard, but they will fall short of breaking the Sky View streak.
Tim Haslam – Syracuse wins 12-8
I see the Titans with the advantage her due to great face-off play. The Sky View defense is stingy, but the Syracuse offense knows how to score. I think the home town crowd with give Syracuse with boost they need for the ‘W’.
Boys: Palo Verde (NV) @ Juan Diego (4/11)
Bradford Davis – Palo Verde wins 12-9
Palo Verde has been very efficient this year, going 10-4, and doing so by large margins. Juan Diego will have the serious home field advantage, which will cut their Palo Verde’s margin. However, I think their offensive power will be too much for JD
Paul Walker – Palo Verde wins 11-9
Juan Diego is the returning state champion team. Although they may not have started this season quite as well as the last, they are still having a successful year. Palo Verde is a high scoring team that has made an excellent showing against teams in several states. They have a lot of power and experience that will put them ahead of Juan Diego at the final whistle.
Tim Haslam – Palo Verde 15-8
I think the visitors from Vegas will be too much to handle for JD. The Panthers feature Chase Bradshaw (Loyola), Cory Christensen (BYU) and Jeremy Huber (Johns Hopkins) who will help the Panthers to victory.
Boys: Waterford @ Bingham (4/12)
Bradford Davis – Bingham wins 13-12
This was a tough one for me to call. When either one of these teams has a W, they have score over 10 points (for the most part). Look for the same to happen on Saturday. When it comes down to it, I think Bingham will earn the victory.
Paul Walker – Bingham wins 10-9 OT
This is going to be a close match-up. It really could go either way. Each team has their strengths and the two teams have a different style of play. This may simply come down to home field advantage.
Tim Haslam – Waterford wins 8-7
I’m picking the Ravens for two reasons. The first is I need to start gaining games on Paul and Bradford and the second is I believe they will be ready for a tough Bingham squad. No matter who wins, it should be a close game.
