2015 Girls D-I Semifinal Preview

The Girls D-I Semifinals will take place on Wednesday at Corner Canyon High School in Salt Lake City. The double header will feature No. 1 (North) Park City v. No. 2 (South) American Fork and No. 1 (South) Alta v. No. 2 (North) Brighton.

It’s no secret, the Miners are the favorites to win the title and have been for awhile. Currently on a 28 game winning streak, the Miners are just two wins away from their second perfect season and back-to-back titles. The Miners have a team stacked with talent who are hungry for another championship.
American Fork is 12-1 with its lone loss coming in the last game of the season, a 13-5 loss to Alta. The Cavemen are in their second year at the D-I level after winning the D-II championship in 2013. American Fork has a potent attack, only being held under 10 goals in four games.
The Miners defense is up to the challenge, but this game could be a high scoring affair.

No. 1 Alta Hawks v. No. 2 Brighton Bengals – 7:30pm
The playoffs always create excitement, but when you face your rival it’s even more intense. Alta enters the game with an 11-2 record with losses against Brighton and Park City. The Hawks are looking to get its first win over Brighton since 2013.
The Bengals have been itching to make it to the championship game and this year could be their year. Brighton is 10-1 with a lone loss to Park City. The Bengals have a potent offense, having scored more then 11 goals per game, except for the Park City game where they were only held to 4 goals.
The two squads met up earlier in the season with Brighton taking home a 11-6 win.

  1. Hats off to A.F. they are only a few years removed from D2 and a D2 state championship, having said that it would be nothing short of a miracle to upset P.C.

    1. Alta and AF have been impressive. Most people thought Corner Canyon would be the downfall of Alta.
