Spanish Fork enters the tournament as the favorite, having grabbed the number one seed for the B-bracket and finishing their season with a 10-8 record. The Warriors had impressive wins over Fremont, East and Class A playoff-contender Lone Peak. Spanish Fork gave up a stifling 47 goals in their 10 wins which was good for a 4.7 GAA average. Three of Spanish Fork’s d-poles were named to either the first or second-team UHSLL Division B All-State team, but part of their success also should go to their goalie Matthew Grimshaw who had 157 saves on the year while saving nearly 58-percent of his shots faced.

Spanish Fork has struggled at faceoffs however, winning only 45.6-percent of their draws. If there is an area for Viewmont to capitalize on, it is at the faceoff-X. The Vikings are winning a respectable 54-percent of their faceoffs, and their offense is taking advantage. Viewmont is averaging nine goals-per-game, led by goal scorer Jake Fujikawa, who has tallied 40 goals on the year. Fujikawa will need some help from his supporting cast of Tyson Handley and Dominick Ellis (24 goals each) to beat the Warriors. Viewmont’s lone representative on the UHSLL Division B All State team was Isaac Mann at the defensive position.
