Beetdiggers Cruise Past Bingham

2014 Jordan Bingham Girls LacrosseThe Jordan Beetdiggers beat the Bingham Miners by the score of 12-8 on Tuesday afternoon in South Jordan.
Jordan jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with goals by Eliza Harmer, Mikayla Parker, Kate LeSueur and Whitney Sieverts. Bingham scored their first goal of the game at the 15:10 mark when Jessica Allen scored her first of the game. Allen scored again at the 11:00 mark when she scored with a quick stick on the crease on a great pass from Sammy Delli. Just as the Miners pulled close, the Beetdiggers distanced themselves with another four goal run over an 8 minute span, taking an 8-2 lead into halftime. Harmer had two of the goals along with Parker and Dominique Davis.

Jordan countered with two great goals, one of which was a free position goal where Sieverts scored by shooting through the 5 hole of the goalie. Both teams traded goals before Bingham went on a three goal run which made the score 11-7 for Jordan with 10 minutes to play. Jordan added to their tally at the 9:05 mark on a free position goal by Sieverts.
“We kind of let them back in and got comfortable,” said Jordan Head Coach Katie Lock.
Despite the run by Bingham, tough defense by Jordan along with great goalie play by Sasha McKee kept Bingham from scoring until the 2:54 mark when Rachel Quigley picked up a loose ball in front of the crease and quickly shot and scored for the last goal of the game, ending the game at 12-8 for Jordan.
Harmer had 4 goals and an assist while Sieverts found the back of the net four times for Jordan. Bingham was led by Allen who had 4 goals. Ali Levitre had 2 goals and an assist for the Miners. McKee had 7 saves for the Beetdiggers including several key saves in the second half to keep the game out of reach for Bingham. Bingham won 13 of 22 draws.
“Dani Bricker and Andee Bode played really well for us today on the defensive end,” said Lock. “Dani started from the bottom and has worked her way to the top.”
Bingham will host Skyline on Thursday while Jordan will head to Riverton for a showdown with the Silverwolves on Friday.
