Big Half Lifts Judge Past Mountain Crest

The Judge Memorial girls made the trip north to take on Mountain Crest on Tuesday afternoon. After a hard-fought game from both teams, Judge held and gained, leading them to a 12-5 well-fought win on the Mustangs’ home field. With plenty of big scrums, Judge girls claimed many ground balls and strong draw wins resulting in the overall win in Logan.
The Salt Lake team came to Logan to win, possessing the ball for most of the first half and their goalie fought a long hard game with Mountain Crest. With an astonishing first half, Judge was up 10-2 over the mighty Mustangs. Judge came into the first half much stronger than their second half. The Mustang girls had a rough first half, but stayed positive and came into the second half with a fire in their eyes.
Out of many ground balls, Judge fought harder in the first and gained a large lead, using the second half as a safety net. Mountain Crest got knocked down quick in the first, but they returned after the half strong. Mountain Crest’s number 6 came up with more than half of the Mustangs’ ground balls and circled the crease for a strong on crease goal. In total Mountain Crest came out with 8 shots on goal.
The Judge goalie held tough on crease as the Mountain Crest girls put up a rough fight in the second half. Mountain Crest number 3, with a fast break off the draw, put in a bouncer to bring the Mustangs up to 5-10. With both sides cheering hard and yelling from sidelines, the Mustangs still wanted this game and showed it.
There was no stopping the Bulldog goalie, even with all the shots on goal by Mountain Crest offense. The Judge girls defense came back and held the lead throughout the 4th quarter. Judge had few shots in the second half, making only 2. Defense and goalies on both teams had a lot of talk, keeping coordinated and aggressive. The Mountain Crest defense loosened up towards the end, letting in two goals. Judge had amazing rides throughout the entirety of the game, shutting down many of the Mustang clears.
The Judge girls will have a tough test as they take on Olympus on Thursday, while Mountain Crest will look to get their first win against a Jekyll&Hyde Davis squad the same day.
