The Stories That Matter Most To The Utah Lacrosse Community

Bountiful Lacrosse Seeking Donations for Lacrosse Themed 'Festival of Trees' Entry

Bountiful Lacrosse LogoEvery year the lacrosse community produces special stories about players, fans or coaches going beyond the lacrosse community to help others. For the upcoming Holiday season, the 2014 captains of the Bountiful Braves have decided to make a lacrosse themed tree for the annual Festival of Trees with all proceeds from the sale of the tree going to Primary Children’s Medical Center.
“I chose the festival of trees because my mother had a sister who spent 12 days at Primary Children’s before passing away at three and a half weeks old; when I was a young we spent time during the holidays to visit Primary Children’s and donate money,” said Dalon Hampshire, Bountiful Goalie and Captain. “Last winter my parents went to the festival of trees and noticed an complete lack of lacrosse representation at this charity event for Primary Children’s. Following my commitment to BYU Lacrosse I decided I would direct a service project for Bountiful Lacrosse by entering a lacrosse tree in the festival; that way I would have a good service project to put on my college application.”
The tree will be sponsored by Bountiful, but the Braves are seeking donations from the whole Utah lacrosse community. The tree will represent various general lacrosse motifs and showcase a wide variety of programs from throughout the state of Utah.
“So far the response has been fantastic, and we would like to see all of Utah represented under this tree,” said Hampshire. “I’d love to make this a yearly thing in Utah to help grow the sport even more. I have a strong passion for the brotherhood of this sport and I wanted to make sure our lacrosse community is represented at the Festival of Trees.”
Bountiful is looking for the following items and ideas:
– lacrosse apparel
– lacrosse equipment
– autographed items
– small lacrosse gizmos to use in decorating the tree
– any other appropriate item for the tree
All items need to be given to Hampshire by December 2, 2013.
“We think this will be a fun project for our team and we appreciate in advance any help you could provide,” said Bountiful Head Coach Marty Wescott.
