The Bengals scored first when attackmen Matt Mangum scored on a man-up play after Bountiful was penalized for tripping. The Bengals scored 30 seconds later when midfielder Chandler Pia but it in the back of the net. With 1:45 left in the quarter, Brighton Attackmen Ashton Schmidt caught a shot from behind the goal and wrapped around the crease, shooting it over Hampshire for the goal.

Brighton scored five goals in the second quarter and locked down the Bountiful offense. Brighton scored at the 10:44 mark on a goal by midfielder Elias Fairman. Four minutes later, Brighton scored four goals in a minute to take a 8-0 lead which would last until the halftime whistle blew.
The third quarter was a defensive battle with Brighton scoring two goals and Bountiful scoring none. Bountiful found the back of the net at the 9:24 mark in the fourth quarter. The Braves scored again on the ensuing face-off to make the score 10-2 but it was too late for the Braves to mount a comeback. Brighton added another goal with 3:49 left ensuring the victory.
“Our defense is one of the top defenses in Utah,” said Brighton Head Coach Brandon Horoba. “We see them day in and day out but now the rest of the state is starting to take notice.”
Brighton was led by Chase Paulson who had 4 goals and an assist. Mangum had 3 goals and an assist.
“Paulson had a great game for us today,” said Horoba. “He is making the adjustment from midfield to attack and today it clicked for him.”
Bountiful was without their main face-off man, Jace Thomas, who was sitting out with a knee injury. Brighton won 11 out of 15 face-offs. Hampshire had 13 saves for the Braves. Brighton Goalie Jordan Anderson, who played in the second half, had 9 saves.
Brighton will face Juan Diego in the semifinals on Tuesday at 5:00pm at Park City High School.
