Bulldogs Blast Beetdiggers in Season Opener

The Bulldogs from Judge Memorial High School were able to obtain an easy victory against the visitors Jordan Beetdiggers on Wednesday night in Salt Lake City. The final score was 13-1 in favor of the Bulldogs who started their season off with a bang.
“We wanted to start off fast and we wanted to set the tone for the game, pushing the cage and we were able to do that successfully” said Judge Memorial Head Coach Dave Allen. “Our defense played very well, we have been working on that very hard all pre-season, so it was good to see that in the game.”
Judge started their way to victory early in the first quarter, taking a 4-0 lead into the second quarter.

Judge and Jordan Get Their Season Underway
Jordan was able to score one goal and it seemed that the Beetdiggers would be able to come back. However the Bulldogs’ strong defense, well organized midfield and powerful attack proved to be a tough combination to beat. By the end of the third quarter Judge was up 9-1 and by the end of the game the final score was 13-1.
The night’s top scorers were Wilson Lamb with two goals, Patrick M. Griffin with three goals, Zachary Knettles with two goals and Brian Allen with two goals.
“We weren’t too successful in man up, and when you get those opportunities you got to take advantage of them,” said Allen. Aside the chances missed during the “man up” plays, Judge Memorial displayed good possession of the ball and great team work. The Bulldogs will certainly be a tough team to defeat for any opponent.
Jordan will take on American Fork High School on March 15th at Jordan High School.
Judge Memorial will take on Weber High School on March 15th at Judge Memorial McCarthey Stadium.
