BYU Welcomes No. 7 Oregon

BYU LacrossePROVO – The BYU Men’s Lacrosse team (9-1, 1-0) will play the University of Oregon Ducks (6-2, 0-0) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Provo.
BYU is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation while the Ducks are No. 7. The game will be BYU’s third top-10 match-up of the season.
The Cougars are coming off a weekend trip to Minnesota where they went 3-0 against Wisconsin-Madison, No. 16 Minnesota-Duluth and Minnesota State-Mankato.
“We’re excited to take the momentum and energy from our trip to Minnesota and use it to play against Oregon,” said BYU Head Coach Matt Schneck. “Oregon is one of the top teams in the country and it is going to be an extremely tough game.”
Schneck said the two teams have built a good rivalry over the years.
“Whether we’re playing at home, in Oregon, or in a tournament, it’s always a good game,” he said.
Junior midfielder Mickell Walker played Oregon his freshman year and is ready to face them again.
“They worked hard and hustled and it was a physical game,” Walker said of the previous game. “Our focus for this game is to out-hustle them. Offensively we’ve been working on moving the ball around quickly and effectively and getting past midfield.”
Walker said he is looking forward to a hard-fought game.
“They are the highest-seeded team we’ll play at home so I hope it will be a good game for the home crowd.”
Tickets for the BYU vs. Oregon game can be purchased at the gate. All home games are played at North University Field in Provo.
The Brigham Young University Men’s Lacrosse Team is a proud member of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA).
