Welcome to the first Boys High School Coaches Poll released for the 2019 season!
This week features Park City as top-dog, as the Miners are looking to defend their title that they won last year in then-head-coach James Meyer’s last year.
Head Coach Brian Bilzi is now at the helm after coaching the defense last year. Bilzi talked about his team’s hopes for a title defense this year.
“The message has been that last year means nothing heading into this season,” said Bilzi. “It’s a great memory, and the returning players know how hard they had to work to take it. We have to start that process entirely over again to get back to where we were at the end of last season.”

Olympus, who finished their season in last year’s quarterfinals, finished at the No. 3 spot in the Coaches Poll in what looks to be a promising year for the Titans.
Brighton, who appeared in last year’s state championship, came in at No. 4.
One notable absence from the top 5 of our Coaches Poll is Juan Diego, who is normally one of the state’s perennial powers. The Soaring Eagle have a new coach in Michael Burbank and look to prove that they haven’t lost a step heading into 2019.
Also notable in this first week of the Coaches Poll is that Green Canyon, a new program based in Cache County, came in at the No. 11 spot gathering five points less than East. Keep an eye on the Wolves this season to see if they can make a splash.
