After six successful seasons with the Park City Miners, head coach Amy Hafets has stepped aside. Her decision came after winning the 2013-14 state championship against Riverton in May. According to sources, Hafets has decided to pursue personal goals.
Replacing Hafets is former assistant coach Abbie Coleman. The New Jersey native was the assistant varsity coach at Park City for two years and feels that she learned enough from Hafets to continue to be competitive. Being a previous assistant coach should help the transition for the team be seamless.
Coleman played her college lacrosse at D-I Saint Mary’s College in California where she was a four year starter and collected numerous accolades. She moved to Park City in 2011.
“I am well aware that I have big shoes to fill with Amy resigning after a state championship but I’m confident with how the team will perform this year,” said Coleman.
The Miners will hope to repeat after claiming the state championship that was eluding them for several seasons.
