College Roundup: ‘The Wave’, Casey Rose Featured On ReLAXin’

College Roundup: Women’s

Utah and BYU squared off in a blizzard last Saturday which saw BYU take home a 10-6 win over the Utes. Both BYU and Utah head to Colorado to take on Colorado State this weekend.

UVU is in action this weekend with a trip to Boise to face Wyoming and Boise State.

In the latest WCLA D-I poll, BYU sits at No. 5 while Utah is tied with Texas at No. 13. In the D-II poll, Utah State maintains the No. 1 spot with UVU coming in at No. 15.

In the MCLA, Simon Fraser was in town and took on UVU on Friday and BYU on Saturday. I’m sure you all saw ‘The Wave’ which has gained nation attention but the actual game saw the Wolverines put together a great game and a nice win by the score of 13-4. Preston ‘The Wave’ Burbidge finished with 2 goals and 2 assists. Spencer Tunick had 4 goals. No. 13 BYU then bested the Clan, 13-5. Chris Severson had 4 goals and 2 assists while Jack Carpenter had 2 goals and 4 assists for the Cougars.

BYU takes to the road this weekend for a showdown against No. 5 Arizona State on Thursday and No. 15 Grand Canyon on Saturday. UVU heads to Las Vegas to face UNLV on Friday and UCLA on Saturday.

Utah State beat Northern Colorado on Wednesday, 23-14. Tanner Smith (West Jordan) led the team with 4 goals and 3 assists. The Aggies have back-to-back games this weekend with Colorado Mines on Friday and Montana State on Saturday.

In the NCAA ranks, Westminster fell to Lynn on Tuesday, 11-9. Nick Marcy and Spencer Whinery each had 5 points for the Griffins. Westminster hosts Rollins College on Sunday at Dumke Field at 1:00pm.

Utah beat Furman, 8-7, to improve to 3-3 on the season. Josh Stout had 3 goals in the contest for a total of 23 on the season which is second best in the country. Bellarmine comes to town on Saturday to face Utah at Judge Memorial at 1:00pm.

Fresno State attack Tiffiny Wallace had six points in a 19-11 win over Stetson on Saturday.
