Davis Handily Defeats Juan Diego In Preparations for Playoffs

Davis Darts 'D'Celebrating Senior Night, the Soaring Eagle of Juan Diego hosted the Davis Darts Tuesday night. The Darts took the field to compete against the two-time defending state champs, coming out on top with a 14-6 win.
Darts midfielder Boston Frasier scored the first goal of the game halfway through the first quarter, dodging his way past four defenders. Juan Diego attackman Alec Meyer tied it up just a minute later, assisted by midfielder Ryan Green. Davis attackman Zachary Jarvis followed up with one of his own in a man up situation, with the assist by attackman Kyle Gee. In the last 30 seconds Davis scored once more, drawing a penalty along the way. The goal was scored by attackman Tyler Green assisted by midfielder Caden Beyer.
Soaring Eagle midfielder Tristan Courtney scored first by drawing his defender out with a fake wind up only to dodge past for the score. This did not even seem to phase Davis; the Darts then went on a quick four point run. Juan Diego was able to convert while 2-man up, but yet again Davis answered back with one more goal to finish up the quarter.
Juan Diego went into the third down a man from a penalty and Davis started with possession. After gaining the ball back and being double teamed Courtney blew past defense to score the Soaring Eagle’s first of the quarter. That goal was immediately followed by an underhanded quick stick by Meyer, again Ryan Green with the assist. Again, the Darts would not let this fly. Beyer scored during man up for Davis to finish out the third.
Defense was fighting hard on both ends of the field to open the fourth. The first goal didn’t come until the four minute mark. Meyer scored the goal for Juan Diego while man up. This was followed by another Dart goal by Tyler Green, assisted by Gee. Just eight seconds later, Green had scored again, this time assisted by Jarvis. The Darts finished out the game by scoring twice more for the sold 14-6 win.
The Darts brandished four outstanding players this game. Tyler Green was a rockstar, raking in five goals and one assist. Caden Beyer had four goals and one assist. Zachary Jarvis picked up one goal and four assists while Kyle Gee had a goal and three assists.
“It was nice to put four quarters together instead of playing three or two quarters,” commented Davis Head Coach Trevor Yocom. “The boys were very positive and played with a lot of energy.” Commenting on what the win means for Davis, Yocom said, “It’s kind of like the playoffs start. Any given week any team can win or lose in this league, we’ve seen. So it’s a good, positive momentum-building win going into the playoffs.”
Davis plays their final season game against Lone Peak on May 1. Juan Diego faces off against Alta also on May 1.
