The Stories That Matter Most To The Utah Lacrosse Community

Ellison Set to Takeover Spartans

The Murray Spartans recently hired Parker Ellison to lead the team in 2011.
Ellison is a native Utahn who found lacrosse as a Freshman at Judge. Ellison transferred to Highland where and was the Team Captain and MVP and was selected as an All State player. Ellison played on Team Utah before going to the University of Utah where he was selected to the RMLC All Conference team for scoring 22 goals and notching 21 assists in 2006.
Ellison attributes his accomplishments to Westminster Head Coach Mason Goodhand.
“Most importantly is the years I spent with Mason Goodhand. His first year as coach at Utah was my first year as a player. He was instrumental in my player accomplishments. The year my eligibility ran out at Utah, Westminster hired Mason to start their program. I followed Mason there and as an assistant coach we won a National Championship in Division II of the MCLA.”

Ellison graduated from Westminster with a degree in Education and is now a Physical Education Teacher in the Granite School District.
Ellison was hired after former Head Coach, Jadee Talbot, started a Masters Education program which is too time consuming for coaching.
“Talbot and I work together,” said Ellison. “He knew my background and asked if I’d fill in. I obliged. I’m not really sure how long my stint at Murray will be but I’m going to make it count.”
Ellison hopes to build the players confidence and skill level so they can play at the next level.
“I’d like to make playoffs and beat our rival Highland, my Alma Mater,” said Ellison.
Ellison hopes in 3 years that the team will have a reputation for having players and coaches striving to keep the love and respect for the game alive.
“I’d like it to become less of a head hunter “lets go hit people” team and more of a well put together dangerous lacrosse team,” said Ellison.
Ellison still plays lacrosse by participating in the Men’s Summer League and traveling teams.
Ellison is also newly married and loves spending time with his wife and her family. In between practices and games, Ellison claims to be an ‘avid’ video game player. His favorite games are Madden, Call of Duty and Halowars.
“I also love shredding the fine Wasatch powder on my board,” said Ellison.
Murray will open their season on March 9 as they take on Skyline.
