Utah Lacrosse News: What are you looking forward to the most while in Utah for LXM 801 both on and off the field?
Erik Krum: The thing I am looking forward to the most this year for LXM 801 is the high energy crowd that we had last year! At last years game the energy of the crowd was awesome to play in front of. And LXM made it on ESPN top 10 plays in Utah’s game last year.
ULN: Have you ever been to Utah? If so, what are you excited to do/see again? If not, what have you heard about the state?
EK: Yes I have been to Utah before when I was a youth hockey player. I grew up in Colorado and before we had an NHL team we had the Denver Grizzlies, it was always my dream to play for the Grizzlies, but they ended up moving to Utah. I flew to Utah when I was younger to see some Grizzlies games and actually got to skate on their ice for a practice. Great memories!

ULN: Why did you choose to play in the LXM Pro Tour?
EK: The LXM is much more then a pro lacrosse league, Adrenaline and LXM is focused on the youth and progression of the sport. I love the fact that we interact with our fans or the youth through clinics, autograph signings, and hangout out at the field before and after the game. I want to motivate these kids to chase their dream and I feel the LXM tour provides that opportunity.
ULN: Why is your team going to win in Utah?
EK: I would never guarantee a win especially with all the deadly weapons that Team STX has, BUT team Maverik United is coming off of our first win of the season and we are ready to tie the series 2-2.
ULN: What is your favorite stadium/field to play on and why?
EK: I would have to say my favorite stadium to play in and on is M&T stadium in Baltimore Maryland. It’s where the Ravens play. I won one of my 3 national championships on this field and I just love the feeling I get when I step on the turf there. The inner beast is unleashed on every field I play on but M&T is where that beast feels normal.
ULN: What advice would you give to young players who are looking to improve their game?
EK: Advice that I would give to young players is NEVER GIVE UP! I was told my whole life I wasn’t good enough or I wasn’t smart enough. I use others negative words to motivate me to achieve the goals I want. Secondly setting goal on and off the field is very important. They don’t have to be huge goals just goals that you can fight and work hard for to achieve. Lastly, training isn’t always fun, but as an athlete we must commit ourselves to out working our opponent.
Thanks Erik, we look forward to more acrobatics on the field this year!
