Get To Know The Utah Blackhawks

Editor’s Note: As the high school season winds down, we are going to take a look at the club ball scene. There are several teams for boys and a couple for girls. We will be providing general information about each team. If you want to know more, please reach out to the respective directors and they will help you!

utah-blackhawks-logoIn 2010, with a focus on providing players more opportunities for continuous skill development and more opportunities to play in competitive tournaments, a group of forward thinking parents and South Valley coaches formed the Utah Blackhawks. The Blackhawks are a Utah based, 501(c)3, non-profit lacrosse club dedicated to providing lacrosse opportunities, to players of all ages, who want to develop and improve their skills year-round. Our goal is to bring together players who love to play lacrosse, who are committed to development, who understand the importance of team unity, and who want to learn every facet of the game, both on and off the field. In an effort to give players the resources to succeed the Blackhawks have assembled a coaching staff that rivals any Club team in the West, made up of former and current College lacrosse players and some of the biggest coaching names in Utah lacrosse history.

Utah BlackhawksIn three short years, the program has grown from a single U-15 team (that played in only 2 tournaments its first year of existence) to 4 HS teams, 3 U-15 teams, a U-13 team and a U-11 team. In March of 2013, the Blackhawks accepted an invitation to join the Adrenaline Starz family. Coach Steve Dunn originally brought Starz to Utah 6 years ago and did it again for the Blackhawks in 2013. A major benefit of joining the program is the new sponsorship secured with STX Lacrosse. In addition, players will be eligible to play for both The West Coast Starz NSCLA and Rocky Mountain Starz Sectional Team, and the coaches will have the opportunity to submit player nominations for the Adrenaline Showcase, the Adrenaline High Rollers, and the Black Card Showcase. The resources and publicity that comes with being affiliated the top lacrosse program on the West Coast and the Adrenaline Starz brand, will enable the program to become stronger, will provide players an opportunity to play against exceptionally good competition, will give players more exposure and will allow us to continue to successfully grow the game of lacrosse in Utah and the Intermountain West at all age groups.
