HerrNeckar Scores Five to Pace Griffins Past Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Westminster women’s lacrosse team extended its winning streak to seven games with an 18-6 win at Adams State on Friday night at the Adams State Lacrosse Field.
Westminster (8-2) scored the first five goals of the game and carried the burst to a 10-3 lead at halftime. The Griffins then scored six of the first seven goals of the second half to cruise to the win.
Maggie HerrNeckar led the Griffins with five goals, scoring three in the second half. She scored on 2-of-3 free-position attempts and had three ground balls and two draw controls. Katie Adams, Maddie Haynes, and Kira Heiden each scored three goals. Morgan Bakarich had two goals and two assists.
The Griffins finished the night with a 38-18 edge in shot attempts with 26 shots on goal. They picked up 20 ground balls and 16 draw controls. The defense forced Adams State (0-10) into 22 turnovers and the team was 19-of-20 in clearing attempts.
Makenzie Hekking earned the win in cage by making four saves. Adams was credited with a team-best two caused turnovers.
Kendra Cheda led the Grizzlies with three goals and one assist. Danica Kristiansen made eight saves.
Westminster will conclude the season on April 18 when they host Colorado Mesa at 11 a.m. (MT) at Dumke Field. The team will honor its senior class prior to the game. Tickets for the finale are available at
