Take a glance at the Alta Hawks, who are looking to return to their former glory.
Head Coach: Mike Isbell (New)
2015 record: 3-13
2015 playoffs: Class B First Round (Lost to Fremont)
Who on your team do you expect to be a stand out player this coming season?
Chris Belcher. Chris is very a athletic and long LSM with excellent stick skills — should score a bunch of goals in transition. He will also play some midfield for us as well as play a key role on our man-up. Chris was a 1st team all-state player for Lehi last year
Who is returning to the team that fans may not know but should?
Steve Huetter. Steve is probably the fastest defender in the state runs 4.5 in the 40 and is being heavily recruited by UVU with multiple other colleges interested.
Alta Lacrosse LogoWhat is your strongest position on the field?
We feel that our defense will be the strongest part of our game this year with the additions of Brett Holst, a strong lefty pole Chris Belcher(LSM), and Jack Babka(Goalie), and our returning varsity core of last year: Steve Huetter, Riley Meadows, and Derek Swanson. Alta will have a fast and aggressive defense with good stick skills and goal-scoring potential.
What is the difference between this years team and last years team?
I think the biggest difference between this year and last years team will be experience. We were a very young team last year and return 18 of our 22 players from last year. This core group of players has worked extremely hard to improve there fundamentals and Lax I.Q.
What is the biggest challenge you will face in conference play this year?
I think the biggest challenge we face in our conference is our conference itself. the top 5 teams in the power rankings from last year came from our conference.
What single thing are you looking forward to the most this season?
I would say seeing my players mesh and become a team, and watching all my young players improve!
At the end of the season, which team will be holding the Championship trophy?
I think Brighton is the team to beat, followed by by Juan Diego.
Brighton has a bunch of quality seniors led by Bubba Fairman and Byrson Taylor, and a enough athletes to compliment them!

Who are the top 3 players in the state not on your team?
Bubba Fairman, Brighton; Josh Stout, Lone Peak; Bryson Taylor, Brighton.
What else should we know about your team?
I am the new head coach of Alta but have been a part of the Alta program for the past 8 years. We added two new assistant coaches: Tyson Poole, who has previously coached at Bingham and Olympus, and Kelby Ockay is the new defensive coordinator; Kelby played for 4 years at the U of U, and was previously an assistant to Walker Bateman at Olympus.
