Head Coach: Greg Freeman
2015 Record: 8-6
2015 Playoffs: D-II Semifinals (Lost to Roy)
Who on your team do you expect to be a stand out player this coming season?
Shae Munger, Senior, Captain, D2 All State Midfield.
She has continued to improve her stick skills and passing. She is a all out athlete. She runs marathons, and does triathlons. Strong leader on the field and loved off the field by others, mostly boys.
Sid Shefield is also a senior defensive player. She has started for 3 years on the team and understands when to slide and help out. She continues to get a better field sense on when to push the ball up and into transition.
Who is returning to the team that fans may not know but should?
Kylie Labrum is a junior that will be in the midfield. She is small and quick. Started as a sophomore and will be strong at ground balls and really help out in draw control.
Who are your team captains?
Two senior leaders are Sheffield and Munger both captains. They are top tier students and have succeeded in many things outside of lacrosse. Both will be playing beyond high school if they choose to.
They have the ability to teach the skills that come easy to them to others with very clear and easy directions and then build those others both with excitement and encouragement.
What is your strongest position on the field?
Lehi will have a strong midfield with Labrum, Freeman, Munger and Jasmer, with a very strong set of 3 bench players coming in as subs. Freeman should be great at the draw with Munger and Labrum to get the GB’s on the circle.
What is the difference between this years team and last years team?
This team is young compared to previous. Lehi lost 2 all-state players and has a young group coming up. The team last year for the first time had a JV team, this should help with game experience though Varsity speed will need to be learned on the field.
What is the biggest challenge you will face in conference play this year?
With the changes to the girls programs, Lehi sits in a tough region, with Brighton, Alta, CC, and Juan Diego. Lehi and Coach Ingrid Knowles out of Waterford will battle it out with those top tier teams. Waterford always improves every game and will be tough this year. With a coach Like Knowles any team should worry about Waterford, she played on the East coast and has great knowledge of the game and can achieve more out of her players than most.
What single thing are you looking forward to the most this season?
This season will be fun with the new league organization. It will be fun starting new rivals and continuing on with old ones. Lehi looks forward to 3 days in the sun in St. George getting ready for the season. Coach Freeman looks forward to a warm sunny beach upon his retirement after the 2017 season which will conclude 13 years in this great sport.
At the end of the season, which team will be holding the ULA Championship trophy?
I think Park City again will hold that trophy. But I think after that many teams will have big pushes to change who follows them. Many teams have new coaches and will surprise other teams with those changes. Herriman will also have a very strong showing.
What else should we know about your team?
New coaches, players who transferred, etc.: Lehi will have 2 new players this year on Varsity both are in 9th grade and have great speed and skill. Sadie Wiedmierer and Eliza Jorgenson both come with multiply years in the juniors program but have really pushed themselves with wall ball and conditioning. They will be fun to watch in the up coming years, both should be very good in the future to lead Lehi to another run at a trophy.
