High School Team At A Glance: Roy Royals

The high school season has begun, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to get to know the teams. Next up at a glance is the Roy Royals.

2015 playoffs: Class B First Round (Lost to East in OT)
Who on your team do you expect to be a stand out player this coming season?
Nick Faragaso will anchor the defense with his presence. Jaxon Rogers, defense, with his mobility will have a big role stopping other teams shooters. Dalton Skidmore, attack, lead our team in scoring last year. Chase Storey, midfield, huge heart and physical play. Mike Parkin, goalie, will lead the defense.

Roy LogoWho is returning to the team that fans may not know but should? 
Ronnie Olsen, defense, good foot work and stick skills.
Dakota Wessler, midfield, quick and great shooter.

Who are your team captains for this season?
Dalton Skidmore 3 year starter 3 year captain; Jaxon Rogers 3 year starter 2 year captain; Nick Faragaso 2 year starter; Ronnie Olsen 2 year starter; Mike Parkin
What is your strongest position on the field?
Defense — we are returning all three players. We have experience and expect good things to come.

What is the difference between this years team and last years team?
Last year we had experience at attack and defense was young; this year just the opposite. We have a great freshman class that will need to step up.
What is the biggest challenge you will face in conference play this year?
Teams are fast and have good stick skills. The northern part of the state has teams that are underrated, but always play great.
What single thing are you looking forward to the most this season?
Watch the senior class lead the underclassmen and become a team.
At the end of the season, which team will be holding the Championship trophy?
To many good teams at the top of the league — should be fun to see play out.
