The Park City girls lacrosse team extended its winning streak to 25 on Tuesday in Sandy with a 10-4 win over Brighton. The Miners and Bengals have been the No. 1 and No. 2 teams throughout the whole season. With the win, the Miners are in the drivers seat for the No. 1 seed in the North Conference.
The first half was very close and competitive. The Bengals won the opening draw and took a long possession while being patient. With the ball behind, Tiffiny Wallace did a back cut, caught the ball and shot far pipe for the goal. After a free-position save by Brighton goalie Taylor Hekking, Wallace scored the second goal of the game after a nice cross field pass found Wallace on the crease wide open. Wallace wasted no time shooting it in with a quick-stick. The Miners scored their first goal of the game when Hannah Hyatt capitalized on a free-position opportunity. Brighton quickly scored again when Mo Osterloh found the back of the net after great off-ball movement led to her getting open, catching the pass and scoring. The Miners then went on a three-goal run with goals from Ellie Meyer, Maike Wells, and Hyatt found twine. The Miners took a 4-3 lead into halftime.

The second half was dominated by Park City as they pulled away with good possessions and great defense. Wells, Livia Kimche and Meyer all had goals within the first 10 minutes of the second half. A heads up play by Hyatt led to Meyer getting her third goal of the day at the 12:06 mark. Hyatt was given a free-position opportunity and when the whistle blew, Hyatt quickly dished to Meyer who was on the crease. Meyer caught the pass and scored to make the score 8-3. A pass over the middle that was deflected gave the Miners their tenth goal of the game. Brighton scored its only goal of the second half when Wallace caught a pass from the wing and scored. Park City added one more at 4:05 to close the scoring and securing a 10-4 win.
Park City controlled 9 of 16 draws with goalie Maddie Komisar registering 5 saves. Hekking had 10 saves for the Bengals including several great point blank shots.
Hyatt and Meyer each had 3 goals. Wallace finished with 3 goals as well for the Bengals. Park City will host Olympus next Tuesday while Brighton host Jordan on Thursday.
