Lone Peak Girls Capture Best of the West Championship

The Lone Peak girl’s lacrosse team took home the Best of the West championship trophy in their first ever visit to the tournament. They started off strong by handily defeating Davis 17-3 Friday night. Saturday morning the Knight’s first two games were against Centennial NV and Pinnacle AZ winning 7-1 and 11-4, respectively. Lone Peak would run into their first challenge in the third game of the night, where they lost to Brighton 6-7.
The Knight’s were happy with their performance through the second day of the tournament and it was enough to earn them a spot in the playoff. Sunday morning saw Lone Peak dispatch rival American Fork 9-4 and set up a

The championship match up was against Snolax from Snohomish, Washington. The Knight’s got up early and won the game 8-6 thanks to long possessions and precision passing.
“The biggest factors that played into the Lone Peak girls coming out on top would be how well [we] conditioned them and the ability of the team to pick up new concepts,” reflected coach Kendra Robinson, “The girls learned a whole new style of defense, clear routes, and draw techniques and within 12 hours they were executing them in games. This tournament was the first time Lone Peak had been on a field this season but they didn’t play like it, they hardly missed a beat.”
