The LXM Tour is multifaceted with the actual LXM game and the youth tournament that coincides with it. Teams from Idaho, Canada, Las Vegas and Utah competed over two days in age groups from High School Elite all the way down to U-11.
Las Vegas brought Zip It Elite, Zip It High School, Vegas Starz Elite, and Vegas Starz Select who all showed well. Several NCAA D-I commits graced the fields and continued to show why they are highly sought after.
The Mustang Starz from Canada also showed well, winning all their games in the Champion High School division.
Idaho featured three teams. The newly formed Boise United, Boise River and the Idaho Outlaws. Each team competed well and fought hard.
Utah was obviously the most represented with these teams: 212 Lacrosse, Advantage Lacrosse, Patriot Starz, Utah Starz, Utah Blackhawks, Wasatch LC, Park City, Pleasant Grove, Timpview, Lone Peak and Timpanogos.
“I’m humbled by the support of the 212 Lacrosse community,” said 212 Lacrosse Director Mike Acee. “I’d also like to thank our coaching staff of Brian Bilzi (D1- Manhattan College), Court Durling (D1- Virginia) and Zach Sadoff (D3 – Tufts). They did a wonderful job helping guide our 3 teams (2 U13 Teams, 1 U15 Team) to a cumulative 12 win 0 loss record. A big thank you to Adrenaline for putting on such a great event. I couldn’t be more proud of our kids and I’m grateful to be a part of such a fun weekend.”
“It was great for our players from Advantage Lacrosse face out of state competition,” said Advantage Director Marty Wescott. “We played the Vegas Zip It Elite team in a very close game and our HS team played the Mustangs from Canada and got a flavor of their strong stick skills and fast paced style. Our younger teams got to have some of the LXM pro players help coach them on the sidelines. That was a thrill for them as well as watching some of the best lacrosse players ever play in the LXMPRO game. The clinics were awesome as our players were taught directly by these pro players as well. It was a great weekend to play and the event was a lot of fun.”
“It was a great opportunity for our team,” said Boise United Coach Britt Cornaby. “Our players had a great time and we faced some really great teams.”
“The LXM tournament is one of my favorites,” said Starz co-director Mike Calvert. “Having the pros in Salt Lake and seeing teams from other states is such a sweet experience. The boys got a great taste of the competition that is out there and the program gained a much better vision of where we want to be aimed.”
“Wasatch LC had a solid weekend playing in their 2nd ever local tournament,” said Ricky and Danny Larkin. “It was a great opportunity for us to showcase the talents of our players, many of whom are unknown around the state. Even though we lost to a very good Vegas Starz Elite team, we came out and proved ourselves against the rest of the competition by beating Zip It Elite, Vegas Starz Select, & Advantage Royal.”
