Mens: No. 3 Westminster Closes Regular Season on Saturday at BYU

SALT LAKE CITY – The third-ranked Westminster College men’s lacrosse team plays the final game of the 2012 regular season on Saturday when they travel to Provo to face Brigham Young. The game will be played at North Field and start at 1 p.m.
Westminster heads into the game at 13-2 overall and champions of the RMLC West Division with a perfect 3-0 record. They have won three straight games and nine of the previous 10 they have played. The Griffins have posted an 8-1 record in games played away from home this season, including a 4-1 mark in road games.
The Griffins are currently third in the latest Nike/Inside Lacrosse Top 25 Coaches’ Poll that was released on Tuesday. They received 270 points and two first place votes in the poll to place third for a third consecutive week.
BYU enters Saturday’s game ranked No. 2 in the latest MCLA Division 1 poll. They are 13-2 overall this season and have won two straight. The Cougars have won eight of their last nine games and are 5-0 at home this season. They are the defending MCLA Division 1 national champions.
Saturday will mark the third all-time meeting between the Griffins and Cougars. BYU has won each of the previous two matchups and outscored the Griffins 38-9 in those games. The last meeting came on April 6, 2001 when BYU defeated Westminster 16-3 at Dumke Field.
