Mens: Westminster Ends Regular Season With 20-12 Loss at BYU

PROVO, Utah – The third-ranked Westminster College men’s lacrosse team dropped a 20-12 decision at Brigham Young on Saturday in the final regular season game of the year.
Westminster ends the regular season at 13-3 overall. BYU, ranked No. 2 in the latest MCLA D1 Poll, is now 14-2 on the season and is a perfect 3-0 all-time against the Griffins.
The game was played fairly even through the first half with Westminster trailing just 8-6 at intermission. The Cougars showed their champions pedigree in the second half, including a 5-2 advantage in the final stanza to earn the win.
Kevin Gee paced the Griffin attack with three goals and one assist. He got help from Brett Bird and Jake Arthur who finished with three goals apiece. Gian Sexsmtih added two goals and one assist. Kyle Postler added three assists while Chris Burckle made 16 saves and then Adam Marfice came up with one stop.
Westminster will next be in action on May 4 in the semi-finals of the RMLC Division 2 Conference Tournament. The event will be played at Walker Field in Grand Junction, Colo. and the Griffins have a bye into the semi-finals by virtue of winning the West Division title.
