Michael Mahoney Hired to Lead Murray

Murray LacrosseThe Murray boys lacrosse team has hired Michael Mahoney as the head coach for the 2013 season.
Mahoney is from Centreville, Virginia which is near Washington D.C. Mahoney moved to Utah in January of 2012 after visiting friends who went to Westminster College and is currently attending SLCC in hopes of going into Sports Management.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the lay of the land for Utah Lacrosse and helping our players get better over the season,” said Mahoney.
Mahoney started playing lacrosse in 2004 for his local youth team in Virginia and went on to play 4 years for Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Virginia. Mahoney has also played on a few club teams including Paul VI Club Team and the Manassas Generals competing in tournaments up and down the East Coast.
Mahoney found the job through the ULA and thought it would be a good opportunity. After meeting with the Murray parent reps, both parties felt it would be a good fit.

“I am hoping the 2013 season will be a fun one,” said Mahoney. “My goal is to have every player on our team become a better lacrosse player each and every day, and when the season ends to have a strong team who is ready and willing to compete in every game. I will ultimately judge the seasons success not by wins or loses but on the improvements that the players make in their game.”
Murray competes in the Salt Lake Conference of Division II. The Spartans last winning season was in 2004 when they went 10-3.
