The Stories That Matter Most To The Utah Lacrosse Community

Morgan Judd Commits to San Diego State University

Morgan JuddBingham Midfielder Morgan Judd has officially signed a letter of intent to play with the San Diego Aztecs and will be joining the team in the Fall of 2013 after her Senior season this Spring.
Judd is coming off a great Junior season with Bingham, winning the 2012 ULA Girls D-I State Championship and playing in several events with Utah Mamaci.
We talked with Judd about the recruiting process. Here is what she said:
Utah Lacrosse News: When did you know that you wanted to play lacrosse in college in general?
Morgan Judd: I’m not sure I can remember exactly when I knew I wanted to play lacrosse in college; I just knew that I never wanted to stop playing.
ULN: What drew you to SDSU?
MJ: What wouldn’t draw me to SDSU? It’s warm and on the beach, has a kinesiology major, D1 lacrosse and a beautiful campus.
ULN: What advice would you give to other girls in the state who are looking to play college ball?
MJ: If you want to play college lacrosse outside of Utah you need to play out-of-state. Go to camps, join Mamaci…do what you need to do to get seen because college coaches don’t get opportunities to recruit in Utah. Do lots of research and then contact the coaches of the schools you are interested in. Also, don’t give up on your dreams. There were times that I would get discouraged and think I was never going to play D1, but I stuck with it and all the hard work payed off.
We also talked with SDSU Head Coach Kylee White who said, “We were drawn to Morgan because of her scrappy play. She runs hard and fast which is the style we like to play. She has a great knowledge of the game and uses that to  help others get better. She is ready and super eager to get better and that is the type of athlete we want on our team.”
