New MCLA Team Being Formed at Weber State

Weber State WildcatsThe Weber State Wildcats will soon be the newest MCLA team in Utah with the help of lacrosse fanatic Scott Robinson.
“After coaching the Viewmont girls, I fell in love with the sport,” said Robinson. “I decided I wanted to play and thought there might be other guys like me at Weber State who wanted to play. I decided then that I would try and start the team.”
Starting an MCLA program isn’t easy but Robinson is confident it will happen. Weber State has been helpful, working with the team through the clubs and organizations department. Robinson has also joined with the Wildcat Women’s team to support each other, cutting field costs in half.
“Right now we are having a hard time getting all the funding we need,” said Robinson. “We need so much money in the budget and we are struggling to get that amount to the appropriate balance.”
Robinson is going through the right paths in the RMLC and the MCLA to start a team but is looking for a head coach who isn’t on the roster.
“We want someone who knows what he is doing and is patient,” said Robinson. “We are going to have a few guys on the team who have never played the sport before so we are hoping to find someone who is knowledgeable about the sport but is patient enough to work with beginners.”
The Wildcats will compete in the Division II of the MCLA alongside Westminster and UVU.
