The clouds opened at the beginning and end of the battle between the No. 3 Davis Darts and the No. 6 Olympus Titan on Wednesday in the first round of the 2013 Playoffs. The game was close throughout with a typical playoff feel with the Titans overcoming the Darts 12-8 in a classic battle.
Davis began the game with a goal by Tanner Hallows. Olympus answered with two goals within a minute and a half by Bridger Fisher and Coleman Dunn. Davis returned the favor when Zachary Jarvis scored for the Darts to tie the game at two. Olympus scored two goals in 21 seconds to regain the lead heading into the second quarter.
Davis fought back and tied the game when Mitch Wilkes and Dillon Yocom found the back of the net for the Darts. Just 16 seconds later, Jeffery Lunt scored for Olympus but Davis scored 8 seconds later to tie the game at 5. Olympus would clamp down on defense to hold Davis scoreless for the rest of the quarter. The Olympus offense was able to find the back of the net two more times when Walker Murphy and brother Madsen Murphy found space to get their hands free for the goals to make the score 7-5 for the Titans.

Davis tied the game at the 9:44 mark after goals by Spencer Gadd and Jarvis. Olympus went on a two goal run to regain their lead midway through the third quarter. Davis pulled one back at the 3:21 mark but Olympus was able to score with short time in the third to make the score 10-8 after the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was filled with slippery dodges and loose balls as the rain picked up. Davis struggled to get any sort of groove going on offense which hurt them in the end. Olympus increased their lead late in the fourth quarter with two goals by Walker Murphy to seal the game for the Titans.
“We knew that if we came in and handled the ball and put pressure on them, we would come away with the win,” said Olympus Head Coach Walker Bateman. “Madsen did great and Bridger Fisher did very well today. Ben Schettler, our goalie, did very well. They run cutters which makes for point blank shots and Ben saved a bunch of them.”
Olympus was led by Fisher who had 3 goals and 2 assists. Madsen Murphy finished with 1 goal and 4 assists while Walker Murphy had 3 goals. Olympus Goalie Ben Schettler had 7 saves. Olympus won 16 of 24 face-offs. Davis was led by Yocom who had 1 goal and 3 assists. Hallows and Jarvis had 2 goals each. Davis Goalie Jacob Jones had 7 saves.
Olympus will move on to play No. 2 Brighton on Saturday.
