The Preston Boys Lacrosse team is ready to officially begin play in Division II after spending last year playing as a independent team and will have JV status this year.
Last season, the Indians were formed by Head Coach Mike Pyle who went to Preston High School and talked with the Principal, Athletic Director who were thrilled at the opportunity.
During a lunch period, Pyle showed a lacrosse highlight video, gave a brief history of lacrosse and took questions. Shortly after, Pyle officially formed the Preston Boys Lacrosse team.
This year, the team is ready to compete.
“We are looking forward to actually being in the league this year,” said Pyle. “I have a very athletic team and once their skills catch up to their athleticism, they will be dangerous.”
On the field, the Indians will be led by Aaron Dryden, Chase Childers, Alex White and Harrison Stokes.
“Dryden was our leading scorer last year with 20 goals,” said Pyle. “He plays amazing defense and is a vacuum on the ground balls.”
Pyle is entering his seventh season coaching lacrosse. Pyle spent five seasons at Sky View High School under Jon Atwood. When Atwood left Sky View to become the head coach at Utah State, Pyle felt it was time to start a new program so he headed to Preston. Pyle is also a part-time assistant at Utah State this season.
Off the field, Pyle works at Icon Health and Fitness in Logan with former BYU All-American, Aaron Quiggle.
