Prodigy Play of the Week: Week 5 Nominees

Week 5 of the high school seasons brought some great plays on the field. Several new teams enter the Prodigy Play of the Week contest for the first time this season. Voting rules have changed as well. From this point forward, only 5 votes per day, per play, from the same IP address will count towards the final tally. Check out the highlight and vote. Spread the word to all your friends! The winner will be announced on Thursday morning.

No. 1 – Kyle Jessee – Skyline
Skyline Midfielder Ian Kadish takes the ball down the right side of the field and finds Long Pole Kyle Jessee cutting unmarked in the middle. Jessee gets the pass and slots it home for the goal.
No. 2 – Pleasant Grove Fast Break, Perry Finish
Pleasant Grove runs a clinical fast break play with LSM Zach Burbidge drawing the first slide, passes the ball to Alex Burbidge who finds Michael Perry on the wing, Perry dodges past his defender and slots home the low-angle goal.
No. 3 – Juan Diego Girls Transition
Juan Diegos Mara Gronseth takes the ball down the field and finds Kiersten Zaelit for the great transition goal.
No. 4 – Benjamin Richard – Herriman
Herriman Midfielder Benjamin Richard takes on his man at the top of the box running full speed. The defender pushes him to the right but Richard takes it to the cage, shooting on the run and hitting the top right corner, finding the only possible space between the goalie and the pipe.
No. 5 – Spencer Merrifield – Pleasant Grove
Pleasant Grove Attackmen Spencer Merrifield with a great individual effort and the iso goal against Lone Peak.
No. 6 – Rufus Frost – Park City
Park City Midfielder Rufus Frost collects the ball near the top the box, takes a step and hit the top of the net for the game-tying goal with 20 seconds remaining in the game that would eventually lead to 4 overtimes.
No. 7 – Matt Magnum – Brighton
Brighton Attackmen Matt Mangum with the game-winning bounce shot in the 4th Overtime period!
No. 8 – Andrew Bergquist – Judge
Judge Attackmen Andrew Bergquist pushes the left side from X, drawing the slide, dishes to Grant Pierce who spins and takes a shot. Bingham Goalie Scott Bronson makes a great stick save but can’t control it, pushing the ball away. Bergquist snags the ball out of the air and slots it home for the goal.
No. 9 – Chad Madsen – Pleasant Grove
Pleasant Grove Attackmen Spencer Merrifield finds midfielder Chad Madsen across the field who takes a step and goes high to low for the top shelf goal.
No. 10 – Zach Pierce – Jordan
Jordan Beetdigger Zach Pierce takes the ball from X and sneaks from behind, slotting it past the Skyline goalie.
