Skyline Eagles Goalie Madison Simonich Commits to NCAA D-III Meredith College

Madison SimonichMadison Simonich is the latest Skyline Eagle to commit to play lacrosse in college, opting to join the NCAA D-III Meredith College Avenging Angels. Simonich is the goalie for the Eagles and gives a lot of credit to her coaches.
“I’ve played with some of the Skyline girls for 5 or 6 years, since the beginning,” said Simonich. “I think sheer experience along with deep love for the game has cultivated passionate future college players. Our coach, Elise Caffee, does a great job of fostering that as well.”
Simonich truly considered playing college lacrosse in her Sophomore year.
“It was the first time I started receiving attention outside of my own team, it was like, wow, I could really do it. I also considered playing in college in order to expand my social horizons. I’ve always wanted to go out of state and the idea of having a built in social group appeals to me.”
Meredith College is in Raleigh, North Carolina and plays in the USA South Atlantic Conference along with other schools along the East Coast.
“I really like the city of Raleigh,” said Simonich. “It’s a good medium size and its really concentrated with college students. Meredith has a beautiful small campus and a really involved student body, which I like, and the all girls school provides a sense of safety as well.”
Simonich offers her advice for girls wanting to play at the next level.
“I would say the biggest thing is to make sure you really want to do it, practice hard, get a great highlight tape and contact any and every coach you can. I also used NCSA in my college search which is actually how I found Meredith, its a great way to narrow down schools to what you are looking for and a way to discover the more obscure schools you haven’t heard of.”
Simonich has 24 saves in 5 games this season for Skyline.
