The Skyline Eagles began their title defense on Wednesday with a solid 9-4 win over a great Pleasant Grove team.
The Eagles were able to get an early 3-0 lead on goals by Mo Osterloh, who took the ball from the top of the box off a clear and went straight to goal, bouncing it in. Carly Cantarini scored next when Suzy McKee was behind the goal and found Cantarini cutting down the middle who caught the ball and quickly shot for an easy goal. Annie Soulier added her first goal of the game at the 10:15 mark for the Eagles.
Pleasant Grove got on the board at the 8:36 mark when Megan Lovell found the back of the net. Skyline answered quickly with a goal by McKee who ran away from the goal but then made a nice cut back move, burning her defender and slotting it home. Lovell scored again just before the end of the half to make the score 4-2 at halftime in favor of the Eagles.

Skyline began the second half as good as they could with a draw control and a quick, attacking offense that saw Olivia Heiner score just seconds into the half. Both teams traded two goals each to make the score 7-4 for Skyline. The Skyline goals came from Heiner and Annie Stevens while the Vikings had Alese Norton and Alyssa Luke. The Eagles would tally on two more goals (Osterloh and Joelle Goates) late in the half to put the game away and seal the win.
Skyline dominated the draw controls, going a perfect 15 for 15. Pleasant Grove Goalie Adrienne Stevens came up huge for the Vikings on multiple occasions, saving 11 shots.
“We definitely struggled in the first half to work as a team,” said Skyline Head Coach Carson Chambers. “It was nice to see the girls work together more in the second half. We had some great defensive rides from Mila Jaskowski which really help us retain possession. On offense, Mo Osterloh, Annie Stevens, Suzy McKee and Edie Peterson were great for us.”
Skyline will host Weber next Monday while the Vikings will host Sky View on Friday.
