This week’s ULN Coaches Poll has a new No. 1.
The Brighton Bengals claimed the top spot this week after crushing Davis 17-5 and Copper Hills 16-4. Both Davis and Copper Hills were ranked No. 5 and No. 7 in the previous ULN Coaches Poll, respectively. Brighton’s lone defeat is their 10-9 loss at the hands of Herriman on March 9.
While neither Park City nor Olympus has lost since being tied for the No. 1 ranking last week, both teams remarkably tied again, this time for the No. 2 spot. Park City defeated instate opponent Judge 18-1 and out-of-state foe Huntington Beach 18-3. Meanwhile, Olympus beat last week’s No. 10 team, the East Leopards, 12-10, at East High in Salt Lake City.
Corner Canyon jumped to the No. 4 spot in the ULN Coaches Poll from the No. 6 ranking after beating then-ranked No. 4 Lone Peak, 12-8. Lone Peak took down then-ranked No. 10 East, 7-6, to help bolster their resume.
Notable top-10 matchups this week include Juan Diego – East on Tuesday, in addition to Davis facing-off against Fremont. Park City will square-off against American Fork as well. Olympus will then face Davis on Thursday.
The premier matchup of the week, however, is Brighton – Corner Canyon on Friday. The No. 1 and No. 4 teams will clash in what is a rematch of last year’s Class A semifinal, that saw the Bengals walk away with the 13-9 win.
