This week’s ULN Coaches Polls saw some major changes, particularly in the boys poll.
Park City kept it’s No. 1 spot in the boys high school ULN Coaches Poll. Park City was only one of three teams to keep their same spot this week.
Moving up to No. 2 was Brighton High School. The Bengals have been hot lately, including a 15-12 win over then-ranked No. 8 Logan, a 19-5 win over then-ranked No. 6 Copper Hills, and a 12-11 win over then-ranked No. 2 Corner Canyon. Brighton is looking dangerous and hopes to make a deep run in the playoffs this year.
Juan Diego jumped up one spot to No. 4 after impressive wins over Palo Verde (NV) on Sunday and then-ranked No. 9 Lone Peak. Juan Diego will face two tough tests to close out their season this week against Pleasant Grove and No. 5 Corner Canyon that could set them up nicely for a postseason run.
Other movement saw Copper Hills drop two spots to No. 8. Northridge also entered the poll at No. 10 having not been ranked.
The girls poll saw Herriman reclaim the top spot after beating Park City on their home field last week 12-11. It was Park City’s first in-state loss since losing to American Fork in 2016. Park City dropped to the No. 3 spot. Herriman still has one more game left this season against a 7-4 Woods Cross team in order to remain in the top spot in seeding for the playoffs.
Herriman, Lone Peak, Park City, and American Fork have been battling it out for the top spot all year with each team sporting a 9-1 record in state, with the exception of Herriman who has posted a 10-1 record. Herriman currently holds the No. 1 seed in the girls playoffs with Park City at No. 2, American Fork at No. 3 and Lone Peak at No. 4.
Viewmont also re-entered the ULN Coaches poll this week at No. 7.
Needless to say, it should be a very exciting postseason once May 7 hits.
