It was a big week for Lacrosse in Utah as well as out of for former Utah players who are playing abroad.
Men’s Lacrosse
No. 5 BYU traveled to play No. 20 Simon Fraser this weekend.  The Cougars came out with a win 12-8 thanks to the help of a tough defense. RECAP | PHOTOS
After BYU stomped on Boise State last year, the Bronco’s came back with vengeance. Even with the home crowd advantage however, No. 5 ranked BYU defeated the Bronco’s 14-11.  It was a team effort from the Cougars, with 10 different players scoring. RECAP | PHOTOS
UVU hosted Montana and showed them why they are ranked No. 22.  UVU dominated in every aspect of the game from owning ground balls at 71-33 to having 10 different players participating in the scoring.  The final whistle blew with a score of 19-8 for UVU. RECAP | PHOTOS
Westminster toppled No. 15 Colorado Mesa in their first game in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Saturday.  The Griffins won 12-7.  Josh Holland wasted no time getting the Griffins on the board scoring 4 of the first 5 goals.  He lead the team with 6 points at the end of the game.  RECAP
Utah is now 2-2 in the MCLA after beating Montana, 11-4. PHOTOS
Women’s Lacrosse

Westminster fell short on their season opener against Whittier College, losing 16-13.  Both teams traded goals for the first 3 quarters of the game, bringing the score to 11-11.  Whittier than went on a 5 goal streak to pull some separation between them and the Griffins.  The Griffins were lead by Kira Heiden and Katie Adams, who contributed a combined 10 goals. Utahns Abroad
Two Utahns Abroad scored their first goals Collegiate goals this weekend. Zack Franckowiak and Casey Rose of Corner Canyon High School are Freshmen midfielders for Rutgers University. They aided in the victory over West Point 13-11. RECAP | PHOTOS
Morgan Judd (Bingham) had 3 goals and an assist for Lindenwood as they beat McKendree, 21-5.
Several Utahns featured in the Southern Virginia v. Ferrum College and Marymount games this weekend. Payton Kimber (Spanish Fork) is second on the team in goals (5).
Looking Ahead
Mens
UVU  heads up to Dumke Field on Saturday to scrimmage hometown rival Westminster.  Game starts at 1:00pm and should be a good one. To get tickets, click here
The Utes are heading to play UNLV in Las Vegas Saturday at 12 pm as part of the Best of the West tournament which will see several Utah teams.
Womens
BYU heads to Boulder, Colorado to take on Colorado University on Friday, then Air Force and Colorado State on Satuday
Boys High School
Many High School teams are kicking off the 2016 season this weekend in St. George.  Teams including Bountiful, Desert Hills, Fremont, Judge, Lone Peak and Centennial all have games this Friday.  Good luck to all teams as the 2016 season gets underway!
