UVU and Weber State women set to square off Saturday

The Weber State women’s lacrosse team will make the trip down I-15 to play at Utah Valley this Saturday. This is one of three home games for the UVU women’s team. Their other two are BYU on March 8, and Utah State on March 16. The UVU women will travel to three tournaments this season, including tournaments at Boise State, Colorado, and Utah State.

The game will be played at the UVU Geneva Turf Fields at 1:00 p.m.

Utah State Women’s Lacrosse travels to Santa Barbara Shootout

The WCLA DII Utah State women’s lacrosse team is set to open their season at the Santa Barbara shootout this Friday, Feb. 16. Their first matchup is against the Concordia Eagles at 12:00 p.m. PT.

Utah State hopes to improve on a 6-5 season. Last year, the Aggies finished ranked No. 12 in the country, according to the US Lacrosse WCLA poll.

After Concordia, Utah State will play the Denver University club team at 4:00 p.m on the same day. Denver finished last season ranked No. 1 in the country and was the WCLA DII champion. Aggie Head Coach Jessika Carlstrom said at the Utah Lacrosse News media days that they have Denver circled on their calendar as a major game for them this season.

Utah State will finish by playing Long Beach at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning.


Former Utah high school players come up big for Southern Virginia University

Southern Virginia University, a NCAA DIII university located in Buena Vista, Virginia, had their season home opener against Ferrum. They defeated the Panthers 20-12 in what was a high-scoring affair.

The Knights were led by former Brighton Bengal Tennison Schmidt with six goals and two assists. Former Weber High School goalie Bostin Preisler got the start in cage for SVU, and registered 11 saves on 23 shots on goal.  Former Bountiful Brave Jace Thomas went 17-29 at the faceoff X.

At least 16 of the 35 players on SVU’s roster are from the state of Utah.
