Matchup: Date Tim Haslam Paul Walker Chad Martin Matt Anderson
Timpanogos vs. Riverton 3/15 Timpanogos Timpanogos Timpanogos Timpanogos
Reason: In a battle of Wolves, I think the Timberwolves will take down the Silverwolves. Timpanogos won’t endure another 1 goal loss. Riverton will have a stronger team this year, but it may take a bit to get the ball rolling. Timpanogos will be ready and will take it away in a close match. Timpanogos will be better prepared after tough couple of games. Timpanogos hasn’t quite been able to put together wins over top-ranked opponents, but they are close. Look for the Timberwolves to pick up the victory against Riverton.
Bingham vs. Waterford 3/15 Waterford Waterford Waterford Waterford
Reason: I expect we’ll see the Ravens have a stingy defense and keep this a low scoring affair which bodes well for Waterford. As long as I don’t attend, Waterford will win (I am their bad luck charm) Waterford will have more speed than Bingham can handle and will control a slow game Both teams are well-coached, but I think Waterford will pull away in this one.
Mater Dei (CA) vs. Brighton 3/15 Brighton Brighton Brighton Brighton
Reason: Brighton will be hungry to prove they are a top team in the West. They’ll come out on fire against a tough Monarch team and get the win. The Bengals have had two very close losses against the best of the best. They are going to be agressive and will be looking to even out their record. Brighton will be ready after having played in some tough losses. The coaches have seen in-game mistakes and will have a chance to fix areas of concern. They have the talent to correct it before California. Always got to cheer for the boys back home in an out-of-state match.
East vs. Copper Hills 3/15 Copper Hills Copper Hills Copper Hills East
Reason: I love this matchup but I think the Grizzlies play spoiler in this No. 7 v. No. 8 showdown It has been a few years since these two teams met on the field. It will be close, but Copper Hills will have the home field advantage and will take away the win. East has a good team but Copper Hills face offs will prove to be too much. Can’t go against my Leopards in what will be a tough matchup for East. East beat Copper Hills at the Lax Rox tournament in Saint George, and I expect this time will be no different.
Wasatch vs. Box Elder 3/17 Wasatch Wasatch Wasatch Box Elder
Reason: I never like to be around things that sting but I think the Wasps will take down the Bees in a great showdown. Wasatch is the better team in this matchup and will claim the victory. Battle will come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes and I think Wasatch has that advantage. The defending Class C state champs take home the victory in this one.
Corner Canyon vs. Olympus 3/20 Corner Canyon Corner Canyon Corner Canyon Corner Canyon
Reason: This will be a close game but I have to go with the home field advantage for the Chargers. This could make for an interesting fight, but I think Corner Canyon will come out on top. Oly is replacing a lot of guys who were difference makers from last year. I don’t think they’ve had a chance to gel with thenew guys enough to slow down the Chargers’ scoring. Corner Canyon is on a roll while Olympus has yet to be a regular season game. Corner Canyon will pick up the win here.

Matchup: Date Tim Haslam Paul Walker Chad Martin Chad Staro Matt Anderson
Skyline vs. Sky View 3/15 Skyline Skyline Skyline Skyline Sky View
Reason: The Eagles will edge the Bobcats in a close game. Skyline will come away with a healthy win. Too many mismatches for Sky View to cover. The Eagles have yet to play a regular season game, but will manage to pull off the win over a solid Sky View team. Home field is the factor between 2 squads of equal proportion. Sky View rises higher than Skyline as the sun sets
Lone Peak vs. American Fork 3/16 Lone Peak Lone Peak Lone Peak American Fork American Fork
Reason: In what could be the best girls game of the season, the No. 2 Knights will take down rival No. 3 American Fork in what I see being a see-saw affair. American Fork has won 2 of the last 3 but the Knights won last year and will get the win this year as well. These teams are very evenly matched. It will be a close game, but after the Knights’ desimation of Timpanogos, and, if they can defeat Juan Diego, they are going to be on fire and will continue the streak. It will come down to stronger D and draw control. Advantage L.P. The No. 2 and No.3 teams square off on Friday in what is anybody’s game. American Fork wins by a hair. A game of runs brings out the neandrathal in AF and keeps the medieval knights in the dark late in the game to secure a victory in what will surely be a contentious match
Alta vs. Jordan 3/19 Alta Jordan Jordan Alta Alta
Reason: The battle for Sandy will see the Hawks win. The Beetdiggers are off to a good start with a win over Skyline. They will also defeat Alta this week. Jordan plays more balanced and doesn’t need to rely on 2-3 players like Alta does In what should be called the Sandy Showdown, Alta will pull away from rival Jordan. Hungry hawks eat the beets of the Diggers; it’s a town pride thing.
Copper Hills vs. Lone Peak 3/20 Lone Peak Lone Peak Lone Peak Lone Peak Lone Peak
Reason: The Knights will be riding high after defeating American Fork and won’t be challenged again until 4/17 against Park City. I think Lone Peak will continue a winning streak that will include the Grizzlies. Copper Hills will give them a game, but Lone Peak is the only in-state team I think will challange PC this year. Lone Peak will bounce back nicely after a tough loss to American Fork against Copper Hills. Knights slay the Grizz on their home field, but must be careful of mid season complacency
