As we look forward to the playoffs, we sat down with Senior Defensemen Gage Dietrich, a member of the No. 1 seed Bountiful Braves. Dietrich has be been playing lacrosse since the 5th grade. His dad played for BYU and got Gage hooked when they moved to Utah from Iowa where there was no established lacrosse programs. Dietrich currently has a Maverik Phoenix shaft with and STX X10 head. “She’s my baby,” said Dietrich.
Utah Lacrosse News: Describe your favorite lacrosse memory.
Gage Dietrich: There have been so many, but my Junior year, opening game, we played against Pleasant Grove and played with so much heart and emotion. I will never forget that day.
ULN: What is your favorite pre-game ritual?
GD: Our pregame prayer. It is vital to our team and shows that we are coming together as one.
ULN: Besides your own home field, what is your favorite field to play lacrosse on?
GD: I loved playing on Timberline’s field up in Idaho. It was taken care of to perfection.
ULN: How/Why did you pick your jersey number?
GD: I used to be No. 72 my Freshmen in honor of my uncle who passed away due to a brain tumor, No. 72 was his football number. Now I’m No. 20 because varsity doesn’t go up that high and during my Sophomore year, my coach gave me a varsity jersey and it was No. 20 so I have stuck with it ever since.
ULN: Who is on your iPod these days?
GD: The Used. They pump me up before each game.
ULN: What is your favorite, can’t miss TV show at the moment?
GD: Modern Family for sure. That show is a riot.
ULN: What movie could you watch 1,000 times and not get sick of it?
GD: Nacho Libre. That movie kills me every time!
ULN: If you could only take 3 items with you to a deserted island for the rest of your life, what items would they be and why?
GD: Insulin so my diabetes doesn’t kill me, food, and a boat. I am not staying on a island for the rest of my life.
ULN: What is your favorite fast food?
GD: Carls Jr. I’m always a satisfied customer when I leave.
ULN: What are your post high school plans?
GD: I’m going to go to UVU to get my prerequisites done then go on a LDS mission. After that I plan on attending Medical School and becoming a Endocrinologist.

ULN: When not playing lacrosse, what are you doing in your free time?
GD: Owning my buddies in Super Smash Brothers, sleeping, doing school work, mowing lawns, and playing Basketball.
ULN: Coke or Pepsi?
GD: Coke for sure
ULN: Brine, STX, Warrior, Maverik, or another brand?
GD: Tie between STX and Maverik
ULN: What is the first thing you would do if you win the Championship this year? Who would be the first person you would call or text?
GD: Gotta dump the Gatorade on the coach. Then I would congratulate everyone on my team and thank the opposing team for a great game. I would call my sister. She is my best friend and she is very supportive of me and she loves Lacrosse.
