Viewmont Beats Weber, 14-3

Viewmont Weber Girls LacrosseViewmont traveled to Farr West to take on the Weber Warriors in a key conference match-up on Friday. Weber was fresh off their thrilling 6-5 victory over Davis and was looking to ride that momentum into this game.
Viewmont won the first draw and took the ball right down the field and drew first blood, with a high corner ripper from high attacker, Hannah Green. This would prove to be one of many for the Vikings. The very next possession, midfielder, Addie Acord took the ball down the field and scored off a low bounce shot. Weber’s goalie got a check in the sphere call and Viewmont’s Macall Swenson was able to capitalize on the empty net bringing the score 3-0. Weber won the ensuing draw and was able to take the ball right down and score, closing the gap to 3-1. This was as close at Weber could get the score as the stingy Viking defense held strong. Acord scored three more goals followed by Maddie Medeiros and Green with one goal apiece, bringing the half time score to 8-1.
At the start of the second half, Viewmont won the draw but was unable to capitalize. The two teams transitioned the ball but neither one was able to score. After a few minutes of sloppy play by both teams, Viewmont and Weber swapped goals, bringing the score to 9-2. Viewmont four more goals before Weber struck back, bringing the score to 13-3. After a round of yellow cards that led to Weber’s defender Alexis Nevarez being ejected from the game because of two yellow cards, Webers goalie received a shooting space call that gave Swenson another empty net to shoot on. Swenson capitalized again which sealed the game at 14-3.
Viewmont Head Coach Kendra Francis said, “We are finally playing like a team. We are starting to peak and I think we are doing it at the right time.”
Weber will play West on May 1 and Viewmont gears up for Woods Cross on April 29 in a game that will determine the No. 1 seed in the north conference.
