Wasatch LC is set to hold their tryouts for the 2018-2019 season at Scott Avenue Park in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 18 and 25.

The club also has announced a new invitational they will be sponsoring called the Wasatch Invitational. The tournament will be held October 5-6 at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. This tournament will be directed at the 2019-2022 age group, and will feature five guaranteed games for each program registering. Both high school teams and club teams are invited to register.

“We don’t want teams thinking it’s only an elite thing,” says Wasatch LC co-head coach Danny Larkin.

Some of the teams that have committed so far are Park City High School, Rocky Mountain Rippers and 801 Tribe. Other programs that are rumored to be interested are East High School, Corner Canyon and a few teams from Colorado, New Jersey and Idaho.

In addition to the high school tryouts that Wasatch LC normally holds, the club will also open tryouts to middle schoolers for the first time in graduating high school years 2023-2025. The high school tryouts will be open to graduating years 2019-2022.

Wasatch LC has travelled to prestigious tournaments such as the Inside Lacrosse Recruiting Invitationals, the Vail Lacrosse Shootout and the Apex Summer Invitational.

Tournaments that the middle school team will be going to are Stick-or-Treat Rendezvous that IMLAX produces as well as the Las Vegas Lacrosse Showcase.

“What our club offers is exposure. Not only in front of college coaches, but against the best competition possible. We feel that playing the best competition in the country makes our team better and makes the sport in Utah get better,” says Larkin.

According to Larkin, Wasatch LC also tries to maintain good relationships with other clubs and “try to not conflict with other clubs in Utah, but still have the best team and play against the best competition possible.” Larkin says that his players are welcome to play for other clubs, and that players from other club teams are invited to play for Wasatch LC in addition to their current club teams.

Tryouts will be at 10:00 a.m. for high schoolers and will run until 12:00 p.m. Middle school tryouts will begin at 2:00 p.m. and run until 4:00 p.m. The cost of the tryouts is $10 per tryout date.
