Westminster: Men's Lacrosse Announces Recruiting Class

For Immediate Release – Westminster Lacrosse
SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College men’s lacrosse team announced the recruiting class for the 2012 season today. Head coach Mason Goodhand has added nine student-athletes to the team for the upcoming season.
The class includes four from the state of Utah, two from Nevada and Colorado and the ninth coming from Maryland. Below is a brief description of each new student-athlete.
Elias Fairman (Sandy, UT / Brighton HS)  6-1 – 190 – Midfield
Notes:  True two way midfielder with a high lacrosse IQ

  • US Lacrosse HS All-American 2012
  • 1st Team All State
  • Midfielder of the year (UT) 2012
  • Two Time State Champion
  • Duel Sport Athlete (Varsity Football) – Tail Back and Def. Secondary
  • Enrolled in the Pre Med Program

Sean Arruabarrena (Fort Collins, CO / Fort Collins HS)  5-8 – 170 – Attack
Notes:  Offensive QB with excellent vision, a strong handle and quick feet, can beat you off the dribble or finish efficiently inside

  • Four year starter (averaging 11 wins per season)

  • Environmental Sciences Major

Ben Tourek (Henderson, NV / Coronado HS)  6-2 – 180 – Goalie
Notes:  Excellent poise and fearless on the pipe, strong high and low with notable outlet ability, good size with no wasted movement, proven leadership qualities with a strong defensive acumen.

Trent Herbert (Salt Lake City, UT / Seton Hill Univ)  6-0 – 195 – DEF / LSM
Notes: Sophomore transfer has good feet and excellent hands, excels at getting the ball off the turf and quickly into transition, high level experience combined with a very necessary mean streak, Immediate Impact Player

Chris Fuoco (Salt Lake City, UT / Judge Catholic)  5-9 – 185 – DEF / LSM
Notes: Tireless worker with a High lacrosse IQ – has shown the ability to make those in the system better, tremendous patience and discipline, always a step ahead of the offense

Dominic Conti (Salt Lake City, UT / Judge Catholic)  5-8 – 165 – Midfield
Notes:  Quick feet, good on ground balls and excellent in transition, strong two way midfielder

Patrick O’Bryant (Castle Rock, CO / Douglas County HS)  6-0 – 185 – Defense
Notes:  Hard worker, proven leader, Excels in a strong defensive system and has shown the ability to truly enforce the crease as well as the edges – will compete for playing time quickly

Taylor Atchison (Las Vegas, NV / Palo Verde)  6-1 – 165 – Midfield
Notes:  Rangy athlete and strong between the restraining lines – positive impact on both ends of the field – always willing to do the little things – Proven Winner who can light it up when given the opportunity

Graham Archer (Darlington, MD / CCBC Essex)  5-8 – 180 – Midfield
Notes:  Jack of all trades midfielder who will faceoff and run on both ends of the field – a true team first guy – this student-athlete will provide extra leadership from day 1 of the spring 2013 season
