The Westminster Griffins defeated Notre Dame de Namur, 27-9, to snap a four game losing streak.
Westminster dominated from the first whistle. Westminster opened the scoring a little over a minute into the first period and shut the Argos out for a 8-0 first period lead. The Griffins scored six more in the second period and headed into the half leading 14-3.
The offense continued to roll scoring seven in the third and six in the fourth period, increasing its lead by seven and finishing the game, 27-9.[gravityform id="278" title="true" description="true" ajax="true"]
Westminster’s offense out shot the Argos 61-26 with 41 on goal. The team collected 56 ground balls, won 27 of the 39 face offs and went 15-17 on clearances.
Fifteen Griffins scored in the game with seven recording multiple goals and three of those each scoring four. Nick Marcy, Kolton Atkinson and Jackson Zerba were the leading scorers in the game with four games each. Marcy finished with four assists for a game high eight points.
The Westminster Griffins have a two game road trip at Lindenwood and Rockhurst next week before beginning conference play against Colorado Mesa on Apr. 6.
