SALT LAKE CITY, Utah–Westminster’s women’s lacrosse team (6-6, 5-4 RMAC) finished the regular season at home against Adams State Grizzlies (3-10, 1-8 RMAC). It was the final game at Dumke Field for seniors Katie Adams, Hannah Webster and Caitlyn Laffey, and junior Taylor Hekking, who were recognized and honored before the start of the game.
Audree Erekson won the opening draw control and Katie Adams picked up the ground ball and scored within 11 seconds, the fastest goal of the season. The team continued its quick start and scored five moreover the next five minutes. The Griffins finished the half out scoring the Grizzlies 10 to 3 for a 13-point halftime lead, 16-3.
Westminster continued to dominate and control the game through the second half. Erekson opened the scoring three minutes into the second half. Katie Adams finished her scoring with a pair of goals after Adams State had scored its fourth. Erekson completed a hat-trick after the Grizzlies fifth goal. Annalise Waddoups’ first goal of the season was also the final goal for the Griffins.
Adams and Ingman led the team with six points. They each scored five and assisted one. Katie Hendershott recorded five points with five assists.
Allison Lambert and Erekson each completed hat tricks. Phebe Walker and Madeleine Lowe scored twice and Annelise Waddoups scored once. Brenlee Fordham assisted two goals and Emmaline Russell recorded an assist, her first assist and point of the season.
Erekson won nine draw controls, collected seven ground balls and caused two turnovers. Adams won five draw controls and picked up nine ground balls and Ingman collected seven ground balls.
Westminster finishes the season in fifth place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and will play against the fourth place team, CSU-Pueblo, in the quarter-finals of the RMAC Championships on May 3.
