Westminster Women Host Colorado Mesa in Season Finale on Saturday

Westminster Griffins LacrosseSALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women’s lacrosse team closes out the 2015 season on Saturday when they host Colorado Mesa at Dumke Field. The game will begin at 11 a.m. (MT) with a presentation for the five Griffin seniors taking place prior to the start.

Westminster enters the season finale at 8-2 on the season and riding a seven-game winning streak. The Griffins are 3-0 at home this season and have won five of their last six home games dating back to last season. They have posted a 5-1 mark against NCAA D2 opponents on the year.
For the year, Westminster is scoring 16.3 goals per game while they attempt 34.1 shots per contest. The Griffins have scored in double figures in seven-straight outings and eight times overall this season. They are holding the opposition to 6.8 goals per game while giving up 10 goals in a game just three times.
Maggie HerrNeckar leads the team with 36 goals and 46 points. She has taken a team-best 63 shots (52 on goal) while leading the Griffins with 52 draw controls. Katie Adams has scored 30 goals and Maddie Haynes has added 28. Morgan Bakarich has tallied a team-best 13 assists.
Makenzie Hekking has played every minute in goal this season with 57 saves. The senior has a 6.92 goals-against-average and .456 save percentage.
Colorado Mesa comes to town at 7-5 on the year and 4-2 in road games. The average 13.18 goals per game and take 26.8 shots per contest. The Mavericks are allowing 10.09 goals per game to the opposition. Ashley Eickhoff has scored 25 goals to lead four players on the team with at least 20. Kayla Lyall has recorded a team-high 18 saves. Kady Herzog and Jillian Pfeiffer have split time in cage with Pfeiffer leading the team with 45 saves and .459 save percentage.
These two teams met in Grand Junction, Colo., on Feb. 14 in the season opener for each team. CMU won that game, 12-8, behind five goals from Eickhoff. Haynes led the Griffins with three goals in the loss. CMU leads the all-time series, 3-1, and they are 1-0 all-time at Dumke Field.
